During his intervention at the OAS as head of the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the context of the Meeting of Consultation of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Jorge Faurie expressed "deep concern" about the situation in Venezuela, "but, most of all, about the situation of the Venezuelan people." 

Today, the OAS General Assembly being held in Cancun, Mexico, adopted by acclamation a new Declaration on the Question of the Malvinas Islands, which it considered a matter of enduring hemispheric concern.

Within the framework of the OAS General Assembly in Cancun, Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie met with the United States Deputy Secretary of State, John Sullivan, with whom he reviewed the different priorities of the bilateral relations, including measures to increase bilateral trade, achieve greater access for Argentine products to the US market, promote investment in Argentina, cooperate in the field of security and the fight against drug trafficking and terrorism. 

 On the second day of the 47th OAS General Assembly being held in Cancun, Mexico, Foreign Minister Faurie stated yesterday during his speech at the first plenary session that "Argentina believes the OAS can help keep dialogue alive" among all of our States, but also with civil society organizations and other sectors and among our peoples. 

In his first official public appearance, at midday today, Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie received the Portuguese Prime Minister, António Costa, and joined him for the traditional wreath-laying ceremony at San Martín Square in honour of the great Argentine Liberator.
